Inspection contents of glass bottles and cans

(1) Appearance defect inspection Appearance defect inspection is to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the product according to the product quality standard and eliminate unqualified products. . The requirements for defects of glass bottles and cans are different for different uses.
Appearance defects mainly inspect various parts of the appearance (bottle mouth, bottleneck, bottle body, bottle bottom) to eliminate products with obvious defects. Appearance defects include bubbles, stones, nodules, cracks, uneven wall thickness of products, product deformation, parting surface joint line, network cracks, over-pressing or skewed appearance, foreign impurities, rough and uneven bottle mouth, bottle mouth deformation, rough product surface, twisted bottle bottom, etc.
(2) Specification and size inspection The inspection of product geometric dimensions is an important inspection item. The specification and size are checked to determine whether the product is within the specified tolerance range. Specification and size inspection mainly includes weight, actual volume, bottle body diameter, bottle mouth size and other minor dimensions. The inspection method for product capacity is as follows: Weigh the empty bottle, then fill it with distilled water at 18~20℃, and then weigh the bottle filled with water. The standard for the defects of some bottle and can glass is shown in Table 2-35 and Table 2-36.

 (3) Physical and chemical performance testing In addition to testing the appearance and size of the product, most bottle and can glass products are subject to thermal stability, compressive strength, mechanical strength, chemical stability and stress testing.

 

Automatic Inspection of Bottle Glass

Glass bottles and cans have a large output and are produced continuously by mechanization. Large factories usually use online inspection, and only individual items are inspected in the laboratory.
There are two types of online inspection machines: one is a fully automatic inspection line that can conduct tests on the shape, size, appearance quality and some physical and chemical properties of bottles and cans (such as simulated impact test, pressure test, vertical load test); the other is a multi-functional online inspection machine that cannot conduct pressure test and simulated impact test. Most general factories use multi-functional online inspection machines.
Common multi-functional online inspection machines, such as the M1 fully automatic multi-functional glass bottle online inspection machine manufactured by SGcC in France, can detect the following defects.
(1) Bottle size includes the inner diameter of the bottle mouth, the outer diameter of the bottle mouth, the maximum and minimum values ​​of the bottle body height, the diameter and ovality of the bottle body, the thickness of the bottle wall (4 positions of the bottle body can be measured), and leakage detection (bottle mouth plane).
(2) Crack inspection includes cracks in the bottle mouth, bottleneck, shoulder, bottle body and bottom.
(3) Cavity identification (mold number reading) uses the coded convex dots on the bottom of the bottle or directly reads the mold number protruding on the bottle.
The above various tests are displayed on the computer display screen of the control machine at any time and automatically classified according to the type of defects. The mold numbers of these defective bottles and cans can also be automatically identified, which is convenient for finding out the cause of the defects and taking measures.
The MI type fully automatic multifunctional glass bottle and can online inspection machine is compact in design and occupies an area of ​​only 1mX3m. Glass bottles and cans are transferred from the bottle conveyor to the bottle conveyor line of the inspection machine through an S-shaped route, and then enter the star-shaped inspection workbench with stop-go rotation function. The MI type inspection machine has 6 inspection stations. When the bottles and cans enter each station for inspection, they will be detected in a very short time and a rejection record will be made. When the bottles and cans return to the bottle conveyor of the inspection machine from the star-shaped inspection table, the gas rejection device removes the defective bottles and cans from the inspection machine, and the good products are transferred to the packaging bottle conveyor.
The MI type inspection machine is completely controlled by a computer and does not require human supervision. The operator can access the menu through the keyboards on both sides of the inspection machine. The keyboard can be used to configure new varieties, adjust the speed of the machine, and display the statistics of defect categories. For glass defects caused by molds, an automatic bottle and can rejection program can be compiled for this specific mold number.
The MI type inspection machine has a fast product replacement speed and a better control effect on the surface crack inspection of the same type of products. The appearance is shown in Figure 2-36.

Its main purpose is to conduct online inspection of the geometric dimensions of glass bottles and cans and cracks and microcracks generated under various circumstances, and to remove defective bottles that fail the inspection to control the quality of glass bottles and cans.
